Samir Hussain
Samir Hussain pursued undergraduate studies in Evolutionary Biology and Cosmology at McMaster University (Canada). During this period, his intellectual inquiries led him to conclude that the most coherent answers to fundamental questions of meaning, existence, and ethics are found within the Islamic intellectual and spiritual tradition.
He began his formal study of Islam in 2007, undertaking structured learning in English with established scholars in Canada. In 2010, he relocated to Riyadh, where he studied the classical Islamic sciences through private, one-on-one instruction with qualified scholars. In 2016, he moved to Cairo to pursue advanced studies in Hadith.
He holds ijazahs (formal authorizations) to teach many of the texts he studied with his teachers, spanning beginner to advanced levels across multiple disciplines within the traditional Islamic sciences.
Alongside his traditional studies, Samir Hussain developed a substantial professional teaching career, initially teaching English as Foreign Language at King Saud University for 6 years. From 2017 to 2024, he served as a post-secondary educator in Islamic Studies, with a focus on rigorous curriculum design, student formation, and the responsible transmission of the Islamic scholarly tradition.
His primary research interests include Islamic theology (ʿaqīdah), Uṣūl al-Fiqh, and philosophy, with a particular emphasis on the Arabic language as the foundation of scholarly engagement with the Islamic sources. In 2018, he founded The Usuli, a platform dedicated to clear, principled, and academically grounded discussion of Islamic thought.
Since 2021, he has been teaching classical Islamic texts online through FAHM Education. In 2025, he established a formal Islamic seminary and launched the Integrated Islamic Scholarship Development Program (IISDP)—a structured, multi-year program designed to train students in the Islamic sciences through a coherent, academically rigorous framework that bridges traditional scholarship and contemporary educational standards.
